JAIME “JOEY” C. MEDINA served as mayor of Pateros, Metro-Manila for three consecutive terms from 2007 to 2016. His exemplary performance as the head of the municipal government has received recognitions and awards of excellence, particularly, the Seal of Good Housekeeping for good governance from the Department of Interior and Local Government in 2012.
His term has been marked with proactive and innovative programs to address the local concerns. He established sister- city agreement with the Pateros City of Washington, USA. He published the Pateros book as he tried to raise awareness on the plight of the balut industry due to its dying river and the depleting supply of shell feeds from the Laguna Lake. Even with these difficulties, he was able to put Pateros in the food map as he created a new Guinness world record for the largest single serving of balut, and as such, he was bestowed with the 2015 History Maker Award by the History Channel.
While serving as the mayor of Pateros, he also headed the various councils and committees in the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority like the Committee on Solid Waste; Committee on Health; Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure; as well as the Regional Peace and Order Council. He also served as the most trusted staff of then Senator Renato Cayetano and Senator Pia Cayetano.
He is a graduate of AB Political Science from the Ateneo de Manila University. He is married to Dra. Joyce F. Medina and blessed with three good sons and a lovely daughter.
