The second Philippines-Hungarian Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (PH-HU JCEC) was held at Mercado de Lago, Taguig on December 04, 2020. The PH-HU JCEC aims to explore activities and development projects to clean up rivers and lakes in the Philippines

Among the Hungarian delegates are H.E. István Joó, the Hungarian Deputy State Secretary for Export Development of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and co-chair of the Hungarian side of the Commission; and H.E. Ambassaodor Titanilla Tóth.

Mr. Adrian Kiss, Chief Executive Officer of the Hungarian Water Technology Corporation was also present.

Hungary first offered technical expertise and financial support during the first PH-HU JCEC in 2019, and now LLDA has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Hungarian Water Technology Corp. to formalize cooperation initiatives on water management and treatment as well as other projects for the possible funding by the Hungarian Eximbank.

This partnership aims to come up with innovative strategies and solutions to rehabilitate Laguna Lake.

One of the proposed projects is the installation of 47 water quality monitoring station which will be spread across Laguna Lake and its tributaries.

LLDA, with the leadership of General Manager Jaime C. Medina, is happy to pursue this opportunity together with the representatives from the Hungarian government. GM Medina is optimistic that this partnership will greatly help in achieving LLDA’s vision of an ecologically balanced Laguna Lake that will foster economic growth and provide the needs of present and future generations.
